Another day, another...
Aug. 1st, 2004 08:41 amMmf, so it's August. August, when I told myself I absolutely need to start studying and reviewing Japanese and kanji again. When there's that birthday. When my brother gets to go out and visit Ma in Seattle, and I feel a touch of envy despite already having gone. When class starts again.
Amazing how the time since early May has just flown by, absolutely amazing. And as usual, amazing how I have truly nothing to show for it. No writing, no art whether oil pastel or painting work (ok, so there's stuff I've started, but...). Not much in the way of reestablishing social contact with people. No new language things learned. No anime watched (though a bunch downloaded). Just have caught up on a few webcomics, done a couple icons, and have obsessively read-devoured fanfic like the escapist freak I am. ..yeah. That's kinda been the way of things, my entire life, from when I was younger and it was always books, books, books, to now when it's always fic, fic, fic; my tombstone I swear will read She read a lot. ._.
Speaking of reading, I need to quit this reading fic stuff until 3 or 4 or so in the morning. It's kicking me in the ass. *smacks self upside the head*
Finished watching my Sealab 2021 vol.1 DVD set with Anj and Gina last night--that show is the twisted-crackiest-funniest thing ever. Kicks ass.
Oh, and the *big* discovery of yesterday... Finally figured out how to pull the mpeg movie files off my digital camera. Yay. BUT. Found out that my camera, in all it's complicated, set every function yourself glory...the recording sound option is not on by default. You have to *turn* it on. I had not read my information in advance, so I had not done so.
So all those movie clips I took at AX? Where I recorded Buronson talking or Tomokazu Seki talking? Are all just video, no audio. Glorified moving pictures. ... ... ... ... AUGH. Tomokazu Seki...a *voice* actor...and I can't *hear* him. Yeah, screaming at myself inside. -_- But yeah, have figured out how to turn on the sound now, did a little 6-minute recording of my cats, with Gina and Anj tinkering around with stuff in the background, and yes it has sound. Now I just have to figure out how to set it so the recording is smooth instead of so horribly jerky and jumpy--it may involve lowering picture quality, I dunno. Guess I should actually look at my reference materials more. ... D:
Oh, and two acquisitions in our group: Kelly has gotten a big-assed dog. She wanted one anyway, and after her home was vandalized, felt she had to immediately. So she's got a black lab-chow mix named Bear, a 2 year old, and he's the sweetest, most mellow, quiet thing you've ever seen. I mean, I really don't like dogs. And this guy's cool. Think...I guess think Tadakichi-san in AzuDai. I think she might actually have to teach him to bark if he's going to be a bit of a guard dog type, though. Big-assed dog, though--looks mostly like a black lab, but taller, stocker in the face, chest, and shoulders, and has the curled tail and black tongue of a chow. Genetics is fun to look at. But second acquisition: Anj got a digital camera, a cheaper, much less complicated one than mine. And it turns out great pics and movies, without such a high learning curve as mine. So while Hagaren the Olympus is very neat and has awesome features, Anj's Nikon is much more user friendly.
Leslie's game today. So I guess I should take my kanji cards with and do some reviewing. Christ, I've forgotten so much. I even need to review my basic *kana*.
Oh, and recently, I reminded myself why I always liked the webcomic Sinfest (http://www.sinfest.net). Went through the entire archives after catching up, grabbed particular strips I might wanna make LJ icons from.
...weird little thought-babble of the day. Have you ever had someone you could talk and talk and talk to, for just hours-ages--and then when you're not talking to them, when they're gone, you miss them? *ducks* Yeah, I know, I'm like being weird again. Eh. *slouches*
