Jun. 29th, 2004 09:06 amSaw Farenheit 9/11 last night. It is a powerful, graphic, disturbing, intense documentary. Yes, it has bias, and there are flaws to its presentation. But there is so much to be learned from the events presented--it summarizes a very large amount of information (all real, true things to be found out in the public record). Though there are some points left out that should have been exposed, and a lot that was presented to simplistically, there is still a huge amount to learn from it about our current government, and the problems and abuses therein. It exposes connections, corruptions, consequences, and it doesn't matter what your political orientation is, it is guaranteed to make you think.
I think it's something that everyone should watch, regardless of who you support or what you think about Moore and the others that made the film. Though I think most of all it highlights how damned important it is to get out there and *educate* yourselves about what's going on, and not let it be just fed to you by tv, talk radio, political parties, etc--we need to read and research, and learn the *whole* picture, not just bits and pieces. This documentary is just one piece, but it's a good starting point to learning a lot more, a good summary to draw together what one already knows.
But I will admit, I am still feeling emotionally raw and gutted from seeing it. I knew it would be rough, but... Also feeling a lot of emotion in reaction I'm not sure what to do with. I wish I could not be at work, so I could go to the zoo or something, do something soothing. Would be nice if I could go wallow in some escapist reading/fic, because that helps, too, but lots to do at work here, and stuff to do this evening. So anyway.
