It lives...

When they tell you that you'll hurt worse the day after a wreck, they so are not lying. ^^;; Yesterday was rather rough--having my neck, shoulders and upper back be very sore wasn't a surprise (or having my legs hurt a lot, since they're still swollen, and the bruising rather ugly. ^^; )--but I hadn't expected my arms or midsection to be quite that sore. It was like I'd done a ton of situps and crunches. Yeek. ^^;; I guess it must have been a combination of bracing myself, and the seatbelt and airbag in that area.

Today my neck and shoulders are a decent amount better, which I'm extra glad for since whiplash and stuff like that is always a worry. Another day, and that and my stomach muscles should feel normal. Stayed home again today, though, to rest extra, and because my legs and left arm--which seem to have taken the lion's share of getting beaten around during the impact--are still giving me a lot of grief. That'll just take time, rest, and my antiinflammatory med to deal with, though. I must admit, I'm hobbling like a person five decades older ^^;; Just call me gimpy. *flails*

All in all, stuff is settling down ok. I'm recovering, we've been given a rental car--and the guy's insurance is paying for said rental, my doctor bills (since I had a medical payment clause on our auto ins), the tow and hazmat fees, car settlement costs, etc. I even should be able to get compensation from them for lost work time--my supervisor and dept. chair have to check with personnel about whether this directly replenishes my sick leave, or if I still lose the sick leave but get compensation for my wages during that time as well. It's just going to be a bit of time before the details are worked out and we can start dealing with getting a replacement car. And James' Dad left yesterday morning, after he was sure everything was working out--it was kind of a nice coincidence that we had him around for a bit of help and moral support like that.

I did get pictures yesterday, when we went to retrieve stuff out of the car. Though we couldn't get most things out of the trunk, as the rubbermaid bins we'd had in there were too wedged in to pull out. I should get those pics developed soon...guess it'd be a good time to fill out the roll with cat pictures, since I'd wanted to show off the furry beasts anyway. ^^; Good thing I was planning on taking photos of the car already, though--Mom is feeling very far away/out of contact/unable to fully mother, and pics will help her feel a bit connected to the situation here. There aren't many times she regrets living in Seattle, but this is one of them. It's the sorta thing where even adults end up "My baby!" again. ^^;

Man, the phonecalling the past few days--between talking with insurance people, with family, with work, with local friends, with far off friends...yeek. ^^; And yesterday alone I received *three* telemarketing calls from chiropractors doing the "I heard you were in an accident...!" thing. I wonder if they got my information out of the police record or something. But *if* I do anything like that (beyond just a regular doctor's care), I'll get a referral and go with someone on my insurance plan (ie. with someone *reputable*). I sure as hell won't use a service that cold calls me like that. Can we say 'ambulance chaser', anyone?

*extrahugs for everyone* Eh, time to lay down again. Staring at the screen too long kinda aggravates my neck still, and typing too much is a bit tough on my arm. This may crimp my AIM usage for a bit--I hope to be able to hop on and say hi to folks sometime soon, though. I miss everyone! i
