Why Di doesn't get enough sleep ^^;;
Feb. 25th, 2003 09:40 amSomeday, years from now, I'll be able to look back and say, "Once I wasted an *entire* evening creating a computer wallpaper image" with pride. Or something. ^^;; Okay, it wasn't quite the entire evening--I did have to spend a little time doing chili for dinner, then some chocolate dipped strawberries for the hell of it (surprisingly easy!). But after that I blew *hours* doing this wallpaper of Seishirou and Subaru. It looks kinda neat, actually. Might be one of those some would find a bit busy and hard on the eyes, but I kinda like it. Interesting colors, and uses the lyrics from Madonna's "Frozen", one of the few songs of hers that I like--and which matches those two surprisingly well.
Sadly, it doesn't look like I actually did that much to the image, but a lot of it involved tiny, repeated changes, things where I fiddled with small bits over and over until they were just so. Damn me for being a picky-obsessive perfectionist. In any case, for a first attempt at something like this, it went rather well. I'll have to show Kea and Jenn, and anyone else who happens to be a Sei/Su fan. I wonder if I should post it to the Clampesque board, and if so, how to do that. Guess I need to find a place on the web where I can stash it. Really though, I need to learn to find a breakpoint on a thing like this--staying up until 1:30 so I end up gettting like 4 hours of sleep is kinda a dumb thing to do when there's such a thing as "save". I'm like a dog with a bone on that sorta thing...I just can't stop/put it down. I'm always like, "Gotta keep working at it until it's done."
But yeah, so I got fancy and decided I wanted the stawberries we'd gotten to be chocolate-dipped type. ^^ Seriously, it is scary simple:
1. Line a tray with wax paper.
2. Wash about a dozen medium to med-large strawberries (leave the green leaves/hulls on) and dry with paper towels.
3. Put 6oz. chocolate chips (I used the bittersweet minichip type) into a 2c. glass measuring cup. Add 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (or vegetable shortening). Microwave at med/50% for 2 minutes, then stir. Microwave at med/50% for 1-1 1/2 minutes more, until chocolate is fully melted when stirred.
4. Holding stawberries by the leaves, dip into the chocolate until about 3/4 coated, then set on the lined tray.
5. After all the fruit is dipped, leave the tray in the fridge for about 15 minutes until the chocolate is set.
Criminy, even I can do that. Freaky simple. ^^ And much cheaper that certain places that wanna charge $3-4 bucks for one damned strawberry.
Today's the big day--my first session of that 5-week stained glass (w/lead caming) class. Hopefully this should be fun. Been really looking forward to it. :)
Other than that, still feeling pissy about that link Winter posted about some record labels putting out CDs that can't be played on computer (as a sort of copy protection) without telling anyone. Even if they *weren't* having problems playing on other devices--like DVD players, portable CD players, even some stereo CD players--this would still torque me the hell off. How *dare* they? Who the hell are they to say where and how I can play the CD I paid $15+ for?? I am godblasted tired of the recording industry playing Big Brother about my purchases, and damned tired of them restricting how I use what I own. I guess I'm joining the ranks of those who never buy western CDs anymore. I'll buy Japanese ones (so long as they don't pull this crap either), and HK stuff--but from now on, everything else I'll get as mp3s. Or I'll just listen to the radio. If this is the way these corporations are being, fine--they'll never receive my money ever, ever again. They've converted someone who bought when they could and got some mp3s to being a full time music pirate. No more commercial music, you hear that, bastards? *gives the finger to the recording industry and government*
Eh, anyway. *shrugs*

I hope your first class was wonderful. I've always wanted to do stained glass, have a friend (who unfortunately does not live close any longer) who does it. It always looked like so much fun. I always wanted to make little subtle things to hang in the window that would wink and catch the light.
~looks around~ There's other CDs out there besides J-pop? ~scratches head~ Why? ~giggles~
