...what? Wat. Brb, killing myself and/or never writing again. (Sorry. Read a lot of his stuff in high school based on a teacher rec. Only liked The Shining--and even that just for the plot. Not fond of his writing style.)

Now if I could just find one of these that'd tell me that I wrote poetry like Bukowski and all would be forgiven. Except that won't happen b/c I wrote poetry like an emo high schooler. :|

Edit: That was based off a short fic I did (the post-5.22 one), but a journal entry also came up King. >_< But trying that poem, Songsense, from the other day gave me Mario Puzo as a result. Not familiar with that author, hm. (Re-edit: Okay, after checking Wikipedia, all I have to say is o_O...what, again. Oy.)

I got fucking JD Salinger when I put one of my LJ posts on there. D:

D: So did the friend of mine I yoinked this from.

Ah, that icon fits so well for something like this. XD

[identity profile] annella.livejournal.com 2010-07-13 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
HAHA I got him for my blog entries. Thankfully my fic is like Tolkein or Margaret Atwood. XD

[identity profile] whitereflection.livejournal.com 2010-07-13 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
Awman, lucky! That was for a small fic I'd done, so now I feel doubly bummed. ^^; I'll have to see what it thinks of a journal entry...

Edit: Journal entry comes up Stephen King, too. Aaaaaaaaaaargh. T__T

OH NOES! :O

[identity profile] joseishijin.livejournal.com 2010-07-13 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
Feel better - I saw one that said "I write like YOUR MOM."

Hmm, I didn't think about putting poetry in there...

[identity profile] whitereflection.livejournal.com 2010-07-13 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
Ahahahah, dangit, that would have been *awesome* to get. Think I would have preferred it. XD

[identity profile] joseishijin.livejournal.com 2010-07-13 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
LOL - here is what my poetry got:

Chuck Palahniuk

I think, and I am not sure, but I think my poem has just been insulted!

[identity profile] whitereflection.livejournal.com 2010-07-13 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
XD Ohman. Well, it depends. Some would say your poem has been said to be way, way, way awesome--but then again, people seem to either hate Palahniuk or think he's amaaaaaaaazing. ^^; (Never read him, myself--just know I didn't like the movie Fight Club, so never felt interested in reading the book it was based off of.)

It said a journal entry of mine was also Stephen King. :( But a poem I did the other day was like Mario Puzo, who I am not at all familiar with. So who knows. XD

[identity profile] joseishijin.livejournal.com 2010-07-13 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
I believe Palahniuk's books have been described as "satirical horror stories" (brb, killing myself)...

Mario Puzo writes all those Mafia books. My dad loves him, LOL!

Lol, I kinda like King's stories, although I'm not really sure about his writing style either.

I write my entries like King, my stories like Joyce.

[identity profile] whitereflection.livejournal.com 2010-07-13 02:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Hehe, neat :) I wouldn't have minded if my writing had gotten the result of Joyce, at least he's a literary figure!

[identity profile] finnigan-geist.livejournal.com 2010-07-13 01:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I really think the meme goes mostly off of word usage - like certain words or kinds of words, sentence length, etc. It's a very rough approximation. And anyway, King sells! And of the bestsellers you could get, King's not bad - one of my friends got Dan Brown. And I keep getting James Joyce - who reads him? I don't know, having never read him, but I'm betting the answer is "jerks." The only exceptions I got were Margaret Atwood, Vladimir Nabokov, and Leo Tolstoy. idk!

[identity profile] whitereflection.livejournal.com 2010-07-13 02:28 pm (UTC)(link)
For some reason I wouldn't have minded any of those results, not like the way getting King bugged me. ^^; Maybe because even if I'm not fond of all of them (never really could develop a taste for Joyce or Nabokov), at least they're 'classic literature. Whereas I sort of feel King is kinda trashpulp. ^^;

The gal I yoinked the meme from said that one of the results she saw was "YOUR MOM" and do you KNOW how damned much that would have amused me? Seriously, do you KNOW.

[identity profile] finnigan-geist.livejournal.com 2010-07-13 02:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I think King's a couple steps above trashpulp! At least, maybe, depending on the book? I really, really like some of his non-supernatural stories, like Delores Claiborne and all the short stories in Different Seasons. Also, reading his meta, he seems at least like a thoughtful author. I don't know, I wouldn't mind King, although I seriously doubt I'd get him, because I write so little action, and I really think the meme generates results based on certain words.

And, idk, I'm a little weirded out that I got the same result for about 80% of my writing - some stupid Bleach stuff as well as this serious long epic I'm currently working on - because that makes me feel like I don't have enough of a shift in tone, and I see that as more of a problem than any specific result. :/

Also, lol, I'm 95% sure the "Your Mom" result is just from fiddling with the code:

I write like
YOUR MOM

I Write Like by Mémoires, Mac journal software (http://www.codingrobots.com/memoires/). Analyze your writing! (http://iwl.me)

In conclusion: ♥

Haha, I think this meme is the weirdest one ever. People are getting the strangest results.
