yeah, but that was different with Dean. I think here they are trying to show us how much detached Sam is. He doesn't care about anything and he clearly didn't care about the kid. And I don't buy the "luxury" thing. I mean, come on. There was ever a time when the boys could afford not to use extreme ways? But still, they tried not to or at least they care about "normal" people getting involved. :/
