I...have no words. Someone finally did it. A Spn video to Blue October's For My Brother. As I've said before, I've loved this song so, so much for so, so long. Had it on repeat when I was up superlate the night I was finding and uploading the first icons I'd saved for the show, even put bits of lyrics in the keywords. God, it makes me cry. So perfect, both in scene choice, editing/timing, and matching emotion of Sam and Dean and the song. Jeezus, it seriously makes me cry.

In other news, ushered in Friday the 13th last night by making a complete and utter fool of myself in a comment to someone's LJ. Fucking awesome dumbass moron is me \o/. Wearing my Dinosaur Comics 'Failure is Success Rounded Down' shirt today, because it is fucking appropriate for life and times.

Handgrenades, going to be weepy all day.

Hope you don't mind me dropping by to comment, but I saw what you posted at [livejournal.com profile] ancastar's LJ, and I just wanted to reach out to a fellow fan of this wonderful song!

I *love* Blue October, and so much of their music says Sam'n'Dean to me, so that when An offered to make me an SPN vid for Christmas I presented her with about 6 or 7 of their songs and some ideas. This one was, naturally, at the top of the list. I know it was written by Justin Furstenfeld about the issues he struggles with, but my God, it just *fits* the boys so perfectly doesn't it?

And of course, talented vidder that she is, she did an AMAZING job. It tore me up the first time she let me see it, and it still tears me up when I rewatch it now...( the way she cut 'Remember I love you the same' to Dean bending over to kiss Sam in the crib? Oh man, inspired, just inspired.

Anyway, I don't mean to take over your lj here, but I did want to reach out and say hi to someone who clearly loves this song as much as I do.

Ohhh, my goodness, I don't mind at all! :D How awesome! I adore their music, probably have been listening since first hearing a local station play Breakfast After 10 (holy cats, it's been nearly a decade XD; ) Actually got to see them in concert when they passed through Omaha here once, and it was so very worth dealing with being in a crowd of people, heh. For some time they were probably my #1 favorite band--and while maybe not that now, they'll always be in my top 10 all-time favorites.

Would love to know what other songs of theirs you had on your list! (Will go out on a limb and wonder about The Answer, which is another personal favorite, one I loved so much I transcribed the lyrics for my LJ when I couldn't find 'em on Google way back when). But holy beans yes, it *so*, so fits. I have a "spn" playlist in my iTunes, and it was one of the first songs I put in the folder.

The video, oh man, what a present to you. It seriously is incredible. Absolutely perfect matching of scenes to the lyrics, and yeeeees, I remember that bit. Truly, perfect choices. It is something so very special, and you're very lucky to have someone who can and will do something that awesome with a prompt like a song that's so meaningful for you.

And even though I'm babbling *way* too much here, now I'm rather suspecting where you got the title for your fic Pulling Heaven Down ;D

Anyway, hello! :)

Hey again! How lucky you are that you got to see them in concert. I came across their music when I spent a month in Texas and Louisiana in 2005. The friend I was staying and travelling with kept raving about this group that she was sure I would like - she put together a CD mix of their songs and then on a road trip to New Orleans that was bascially all I listened to!

As to the other songs I had in mind - 'What If We Could' just said Dean and his S3 deal to me, and an alternative universe a la What Is And What Should Never Be in the lyrics and in the drive and force of the song. Then there was 'You Make Me Smile' which could have been written for Sam and Ruby in S4: I'm drinking what used to be sin
And touching the edge of her skin
.

And also 'Drilled a Wire Through my Cheek' ( all that angel imagery:-), and 'Overweight', the last verse of which just is so, so Sam..

Depending where the show ends up, I also think : 'My Ride Home' ( get rid of the She:-) would make a great post-everything vid.

And yes! That is exactly where I got my title for that fic - that is my alltime favourite Blue October song, and I used it as my inspiration.
