Whathell?

Seems the cable modem started working, like out of the blue or something. I only fscked with the thing for 45 minutes this morning, nearly making myself late(r) for work. But the 'reset' trick that usually works, didn't, and I left it unplugged...but when James plugged it in this afternoon, everything was hunky dory.

So WTF? Why does this thing keep losing connection anyway? Why couldn't I get it to connect this morning, no matter how much I fscked with it? Why did it suddenly work for James plugging it in this afternoon? Why did sitting for 8 hours unplugged seem to help the little modem bastard? And do I still have the tech support guy come out to look at it tomorrow afternoon?

Gargh. I hate a lot of things today. A lot. But right now I hate stupid piece of shit cable modems with stupid intermittent and hard-to-track down problems and stupid ISPs. It's like taking your car in to a mechanic, only to have them say "I didn't hear nothin'" (except I didn't even get to the 'taking the car in' part). Gargh.

I really, really, really do hate a lot of things today.

Our router does that a lot too. I think they're built to piss you off and call tech support. One day I'm gonna lay a trap for them.

Ooooooooh, like a pit trap with tigers in it? :D I should do that. I very much agree on that--it is designed to piss us off. Though they did replace the cable modem yesterday, so now I'm just waiting to see if that helps things, or if it all just starts over again. ^^;

But just in case, I should start on my pit traps.
